Course Selection

Important Considerations for Selecting Botox Training Courses For Beauty Therapists

Before undertaking further training in injectable aesthetics, Beauty therapists should make sure that they choose a reputable course provider.  Proper training is paramount since Botox injections can cause potentially serious side effects, including skin infection, anaphylaxis and temporary worsening of the appearance due to brow droop or eyelid sag.

Any course will include or have as a prerequisite requirement completion of a Basic Life Support and Anaphylaxis Management Course.  Additionally it’s critical that the course cover the following elements:

  • Pharmacology of Botox
  • Facial anatomy and physiology
  • Storage and reconstitution of Botulinum Toxin
  • Injection Techniques
  • How to identify clients that you should not treat
  • How to deal with side effects
  • Informed Consent and legal requirement for Beauty Therapists performing Botox injections
  • Clinical Practice

The training course should include both theoretical and practical aspects.  While the theoretical part of the training is critical, good courses will allow ample opportunity for supervised clinical practice.  Botox injection requires a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience in order to be able to achieve good cosmetic results and low rate of side effects.
