Training Prerequisites

What Qualifications Are Required For Beauty Therapists To Undertake Botox Training?

Botox injection is prescription medicine with potential side effects and as such only experienced beauty therapists should consider training in this field.

As a general rule, Beauty therapists should meet the following criteria to qualify for training:

  • Hold full Aesthetic Qualifications (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent professional qualifications)
  • 3 or more years of experience practicing advanced non-surgical procedures
  • Experience and appropriate qualification in one of the following areas:  Electrolysis, Micro-pigmentation,  Advanced Cosmetic Procedures.

Additionally before undertaking Botox training, beauty therapists should have successfully completed the following modules:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Anaphylactic Management
  • Medical Hygiene

Often these compulsory courses will be bundled as part of a complete training package.  The BLS and Anaphylactic Management course is critical in order to be able to deal with potentially lethal, if rare, side effects of Botox injection.
